The Plastic Experiment Film Project

Free Culture Arts is currently in production with Surf Happens on a series of short documentary films exploring the realities of plastic consumption. The series, titled The Plastic experiment, reveals the dramatic changes going on in our oceans. We find out who is researching it, what it looks like, how it is effecting us on land, and what governmental to grassroots organizations are doing to promote awareness and solutions.

Follow several ocean & surfing minded individuals, and groups promoting a new A.R.R.A.; awareness, responsibility, reduction, and activism. A.R.R.A., pronounced era, is born out of the Plastic Experiment created by Santa Barbara based surf school, Surf Happens. We see individuals, families, and businesses partake in the experiment by saving all there plastic waste for 30 days and removing one single-use plastic item from consumption (bag, bottle, etc.) Revealed are simple actions we can all take to significantly reduce our individual plastic use.

Justin Ratowsky embodies the voice of a rising generation. His songs explore current social, political, and environmental issues through a loving light. Originally from Hunigton Beach California, Justin recently graduated from UCSB where he began playing music and writing his own songs. Sharing the stage with such musicians as Timmy Curran, Tom Curran, Jason Reeves, and Brendan James, you can still find him playing at a farmers market or the beach. His new album Enjoy the Sunshine was released April 2010 and beams like the sun with positivity. The songs are colorful, uplifting, and thought provoking. Justin is a true talent, with a true heart and a bright future!
